A Winter Visitor

When I woke up this morning and looked out my window, I realised that our wee country had a visitor. He always arrives around this time of year and politely stays for a while. He travels long from east to west and to the north then south.

As he travels far and wide we see him leave his trail behind. He usually does his work a night, so no one catches him in the act, and once we walk outside in the morning, we see the ground sparkling like the stars in the sky.

It’s magical and white, like a winter wonder land. The leaves are glistening and puddles are frozen. Little kids treat the street as an ice skating rink whilst adults struggle to stay on their feet. Drivers take care, as the hidden ice on roads could take them by surprise.

Its time to layer up, remember your hat and scarf, he’ll be nipping at your fingertips so please put on your gloves. Don’t worry though it wont last long, but for now…welcome home
Jack Frost.

Five Years Old at Christmas

O how I wish I was five years old again,

So I could go sit on Santa’s lap,

My wee cousins
Through sun, wind, snow and rain,

I’d go visit right after my nap.

Kids would rhyme off lists of toys,

Those elves would make in piles,

Just to see all the girls and boys,

Open those gifts with smiles.

O how I wish I was five years old,

When my snowman was really real,

O the stories to me he told,

Just between us was the deal.

He would melt away in the sun,

And leave his scarf and hat,

We would be back next year for fun,

In the snow we promised that.

O how I want to be five years old again,

I want a picture with Santa Claus,

Abd in the nativity I play the main,

My parents join in the applause.

As I go to sleep on Christmas Eve,

My windows covered in snow,

And in Santa’s words I do believe,

Merry Christmas, Ho, Ho, Ho.

I am not a morning person..

Running round Disney Land like I’m five years old feels amazing, there are so many colours and everything is so bright and cheerful! Everyone is so happy, it’s like a childs dream, Disney Characters are everywhere; “Hi Mickey Mouse!!”  It’s incredible!

Suddenly I can hear a faint beeping noise, is it an alarm, wait, is there a fire?! It’s getting louder so it must be getting closer! Maybe it’s the parade starting?

O no, It’s not, it’s just my alarm buzzing away, waking be up and brining my dreams crashing down. Great! I am so not a morning person but apparently, my alarm clock and also, my work are.

Half five in the morning and I’m trailing myself out of bed to get drenched by the shower, walk the marathon to work and stand behind a till all day serving stressed out customers.

People usually say a shower wakes you up, I don’t get that at all, it normaly sends me back to sleep with it being all nice and warm J ( pfft like I am really going to try a cold shower, Im not an ice berg).

To be fair I probably wouldn’t be this tired if Id tried more to sleep. I kept looking at my alarm clock going... if I got to sleep now I’ll get 5 hours sleep…if I go to sleep now ill get 3 hours sleep……

Walking down to work it’s cold, windy and rainning (heeey, I got a cold shower after all). How horrible are December mornings?!? Just dark and cold…and lonely, no one else is up at this time on a Saturday... “Alllll byyy myyyself”…that line from the song plays over and over in my head.

I AM SO NOT A MORNING PERSON!!!
I wouldn’t care if the whole world was up at this time, In my eyes, I am the most tired, hard done by person EVER right now. My work should be ringing me up apologising for getting me out of bed and offering me a free holiday to Disney Land so I can see that darn parade!!!

Everyone agrees though, standing in work my friend comes and asks;
“have you been in since this morning?”

“Unfortunately” I grunt

“awh nooo poor you, you deserve to go to bed with a nice hot chocolate.” J

Seee, she understands why can’t my alarm clock!?

I AM REALLY NOT A MORNING PERSON!!

December :)

          Goodbye November. Hello December!!!

O how I love December! It is now acceptable for me to look forward to Christmas, knowing that al the scrooges out there will keep quiet.

Dark, cold night’s means lots of time spent wrapped in a duvet watching Christmas movies!

This weekend I went back to my family’s house to put up our Christmas tree and decorations, it was amazing. A warm fire, Christmas music, snow and family fun, I love this festive time of year!

My wee tree
Putting up our tree was amazing and the fact that it snowed made it awesome!

Christmas time brings people together, I love thinking of all of December as Christmas time, the one month of the year where you see those family members you never normally see, and where everyone is meant to be nice to one another.

As everyone frets over presents remember it really is the thought that counts. To all those parents with little kids, don’t worry, no matter what Santa brings your child it is a near cert that they will spend more time playing with the box.

So finish your Christmas shopping, wrap up your presents and send out your cards. Enjoy this time of year and make every moment count.

Christmas is coming!!
(Don't forget to send out your letters to Santa on time)
