When I was younger, my childhood, and also the majority of my teenage years ( laugh if you will, however I'm rather proud of it ) were spent thinking that; it didn't matter what I wore or what I looked like.
The means of sexual relations was something I assumed I would find out when I had found the one person for me. I was in no hurry to grow up, and could have happily flown off with Peter Pan and been a kid forever.
Unfortunately society today is not like this.
The aspect of designer clothes it not something I have ever, and probably never will have much care for, despite this I do see the attraction of it for mature girls. I would like to emphasise the mature aspect of this, as I do not believe it is vital for young kids, still in primary school, to constantly have a string of designer labels. In my opinion, it encourages them to grow up too fast and makes them become too materialistic, too soon.
I have seen girls as young as nine flaunting around in their crop tops, make up and heels for something that is as casual as attending a youth club. It’s ridiculous.
They are also far too well of things in the term of 'sex'. It is far too publicised these days, music videos and magazines make little girls want more than they need in their young lives. They fight hard to look like these celebrities on TV, and try too hard to act older than they are in the terms of boys. Viceversa with boys.
This is evidently not true for all younger children but something which in my opinion is getting out of hand. I do blame society for it; they are producing these images that are encouraging young people to grow up too fast. It’s not fair on them. We are taking away their childhood form them, they shouldn’t be worrying about what they look like who what they should be doing with boys. They should realise that they are young and beautiful and that things will come in time, they shouldn’t be rushing into things with boys, but should wait for someone who they love and want to be with forever.
This world is getting far to materialistic for me, childhood is meant to be a long joyful dream, why would you want to wake them up to the harsh realities this world can throw at you so soon?
